18th Annual Event for Families of Children with Social or Emotional Challenges

Wisconsin Family Ties (WFT) announces its 18th annual Family Fun Day at Mount Olympus Water and Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells on Tuesday, July 9th, for families of children with emotional, behavioral or social challenges. The substantially discounted price of $12 per person includes free general parking, hot dog lunch, free soda all day at the Wisconsin Family Ties pavilion, full access to both the water park and theme park, and half-price admission to the Almighty Hermes extreme ride. Admission for children two years of age and younger is free. The deadline to register is July 2nd. Registration can be done online at http://www.wifamilyties.org or over the phone at 800-422-7145.

The state estimates that over 100,000 school age children in Wisconsin have mental health issues that substantially impact their functioning at home, at school and in the community. “All too often, families of children with mental health needs become isolated and don’t participate in social and recreational events that most of us take for granted,” said Hugh Davis, WFT executive director. “This day is important for these families. One mother once told us, ‘My kids think it’s the best day of the year, and that includes Christmas!’”

Corporations and community members who may wish to sponsor families to attend Family Fun Day can contact Wisconsin Family Ties at (608) 267-6888, x3.
